When looking at the previous hair products that I bought, it reminded me of the episode of the Wayans Bros. when they came up with a hair product that was suppose to make your hair amazing, but off of that. As naturals you hear, you don't want to become a product junkie... but you will never know what works for your hair unless you try it.. but you do have to be very careful, with these products cause you don't want your hair falling out... so the products that I currently use Eco Styler gel /Olive Oil ( yes the cooling oil)
(clear kind) max hold 10 for twist outs, braids outs.
For Co washes I use Garnier Fructis Conditioner, Trader Joes Conditioner and Pantene for Natural hair.. I don't use them all at once but I do mix Olive oil in the conditioner and sometimes Honey.. yes Honey. My hair tends to be a sponge and I need moisture to seal in the shine. I don't use heat that much anymore, once I get out of the shower I bloat dry my hair with a towel put in a leave in conditioner and french braid my hair. I let it air dry and then take it down the following day. As a leave in conditioner I use Karen's Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia.. but not all the time..cause its a small bottle. For Wash ~N~ Gos I use the Ecostyler gel and olive oil as a coat.. trust the fro is small the first day but by the third day.. it's big and afro~licious... so those are the main products I use as of now.. I still have Kinky curly products and I will try those soon :)
I do have my hair in braided up-do to keep from always touching my hair and plus its getting colder and I want a protective style for a couple of weeks before thinking of a holiday style.. but tell me what you think natural sistahs, what do you use?
I agree, all naturals are warned about the "product junkie-ism", but in order to learn what your hair likes...you must try some different things.
ReplyDeleteI am currently trying to curb my habit and simplify my routine. I used to wash and go every single day, but now I have started two strand twisting my hair every night. The next day my twist out is fluffy and soft and looks similar to my wash and go if I fluff enough.
I wash with Creme of Nature Shampoo about once a month, but weekly I use Giovanni's 50/50 shampoo. I condition with Trader Joe's Nourish Spa and I often add EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) for more slip. For a deep condition, l like to use EVOO and honey.
For leave in conditioner I am currently rotating Karen's Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia, BrownButterBeauty Sweet Milk Detangling Leave In, and my Kimmaytube Recipe leave in (2 tbsp Kinky Curly Knot Today, 2 tbsp of Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice, 2 tsp of castor oil, & 2 tsp of jojoba oil).
I twist my hair with MyHoneyChild Twist Out Creme or Jane Carter Nourish and Shine.
I have been doing this new routine for about 3 weeks and LOVE IT.
