THE BIG CHOP!!!

So recently I saw the movie Good Hair, in which is was very informative about African-American hair. I would go into details but you have to see the movie for yourself. So after seeing the movie I thought it would be neat to get other people opinions about hair and what I can do to my hair. So for the past year and half I have been on the rocky rollercoaster of going natural with my hair or just going ahead and putting a relaxer in my hair. Yes I have been tempted to just buy that box relaxer and put it in my head and call it a night, but I found that my hair does not take well to the box relaxer. It may be the fact that I am no hair guru. So any tips that anyone has would be much appreciated. So here is the question. When going natural do you have to do the BIG CHOP? Meaning do I have to cut all my hair off in order to go natural.

  1. Did you see the movie before you got here? Ive been trying to rent it but Quin said they only have 1 cpy at the shoppette and it's always gone. Anyways, I have gone natural several times and Ive never done the BC. Ive always kept it in braids, did twists outs, curly fros, updos.. different transitioning styles until it was the length I wanted it.

  2. UPDATE...
So I heard from many ppl that you don't have to do the BIG CHOP... prime example, my cousin she has gone completely natural and she has not cut her hair. She actually has locs, or dreds what ever you want to call them. So I am comfortable now.. no BIG CHOP for me!! ( Prayfully..-lol-)
